formatting difference when merging from excel to word

Julie

I am merging an excel document into word and the cells I
am merging have dollar signs, decimals points, and are
limited to two decimals places. When I merge the
document the dollar signs and decimals points are not in
the word document. How do I make the whole cell,
formating included, merge?

Thank You

Which version of Word/Excel?

If it is 2002 or later and you have Excel, you can do this by connecting to
Excel using a different method - check Word Tools|Options|General|Confirm
conversion at open, go through the process of connecting to your Excel
sheet, and select the "Excel via DDE" option when offered.

Or, you can change the { MERGEFIELD } fields in your Word mail merge main
document so that /Word/ formats the numbers. Use Alt-F9 to show the field
codes, then change e.g.

{ MERGEFIELD mynumber }

to

{ MERGEFIELD mynumber \#",$0.00" }
