Formatting headers & footers

Marina

My Word document is separated into sections in order to
have different headers throughout the pages. However, how
do I keep the differing headers while keeping the same
footer, especially since I need to have the pages
numbered? (with the different headers right now the page
counting starts at "1" every time a new section starts)

Please help.

Hi, Marina,

The headers and footers are completely separate sequences, so you can set
the footer in each section to be "Same As Previous" (using the button on the
Header/Footer toolbar) while leaving the headers independent of each other.

The page numbering is yet another separate issue. In each section starting
with Section 2, click the Format Page Number button on the Header/Footer
toolbar. In the dialog that appears, click the "Continue from previous
section" option and click OK. Actually, I'm surprised that this is necessary
in your template, because continuous numbering is the default option
whenever you create a new section.
