Formatting headers

I'm stuck. Have researched Help for Word X but can't find the answers.
I need to format different headers in the same document. Has to do with
"Notes for pages 1-9," "Notes for pages 10-18," etc. (this is the text
part). Need to have header text centered and page numbers (300, 301,
etc.) to outside corners. I can center the text, but find no way to get
the page numbers to the corners, esp. the odd page number (right
corner). I get all sorts of weird boxes (the one with the barber pole
shading is a total mystery). And I can't create tabs for some reason.

Really clueless. Maybe someone wants to wrote me privately. Thanks.

Hi Stephen:

This is easy: Format your document with a Format>Document>Layout>Headers
and Footers> "Different Odd and Even"

This gives you two headers and two footers for each section -- one for even
(left-hand) pages and one for odd (right-hand) pages.

If you need it, I put a sample on
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/customization/CreateATemplatePart2.htm

The article has a downloadable template set up to do what you want.

Cheers
