Formatting mail merge entry

B

Barry

I am designing a form in Word which merges data from an
Access database.

One of the fields in Access is a phone number. The data
is entered 5556667777 which then appears as (555) 666-
7777 in the Access databse.

When I bring in that field into Word (using Mail Merge)
it shows up as 5556667777. How do I retian the formatting
with the parenthesis & dash?

Hi Barry,

Press Alt+F9 to toggle on the field codes in the mailmerge main document and
inside the closing } of the telephone number mergefield, add the following
numeric picture switch:

\# "(###) ###'-'####"

Please post any further questions or followup to the newsgroups for the
benefit of others who may be interested. Unsolicited questions forwarded
directly to me will only be answered on a paid consulting basis.

Hope this helps
