Formatting Numbers & Styles

I have Word 2003. I am trying to create a template with a Style called "Sub
Heading" and a style called "Roman Numbering". I have set the "Style
following" my subheading to be "Roman Numbering". It works well the first
time but subsequent times the numbering continues. Can I format it so that
each time I use the "Sub heading" style my numbering starts from (i).??

Doug
I am familiar with that article of Shauna Kelly (I use it often). My issue
here is that I have a particular paragraph style called "Sub Heading" and I
want the following style to be it "Roman Numbering" but I can't format it so
that the Roman Numbering starts from (i) each time I use the style. Is there
any way to change the default in Numbering to "Restart Numbering". It
currently is "Continue previous List"?

If you want your "Roman Numbering" to restart after "Sub Heading," the key
is to make those two styles part of the same outline-numbered list, as
described in the article that Doug linked to. Although the article deals
with the built-in headings, the principles are the same with other styles.

To amplify what Stefan has said, your "Sub Heading" style needs to be Level
1 of the list; it need not be numbered (just set the number style to None).
"Roman Numbering" will then be Level 2.

Thanks for all your help. It does make sense but in the meantime this will
have to go in the "tomorrow" file when I am less stressed and at the moment
the Roman numbering will have to be reset manually. I will come back another
time.
