formatting numbers

Mike

I need to insert temperatures on a sheet and would like to be able to show
them as degrees C

Anyway I can format the number to show the sign for degrees Celsius?

I appreciate there may be a font for this but I have to email my document to
various others who may not have the specified font.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike

apply a custom format ('Format - Cells - Custom')
Insert a 0 and press ALT+01776 to get a degree symbol

Use a custom format

General" °C";-General" °C";0" °C"

don't know if something else will come out instead of the degree symbol but
type in the above and place the cursor before the C and hold down alt while
typing 0176 on the numpad,
then release alt. So replace whatever is the preceding character to C
(unless it will show up as the degree symbol)
with alt + 0176
