formatting numbers

I have try to format a number ex. 1.000,00 or 10.000,00, but cannot get it.
When i try so separat it in thusund with two digits, I only get "100.0.00"
or "10000.0.00".

What can I do to get this to display correctly ??

In Excel XP and above, you can change the thousand and decimal separators by
going in the Tools / Options, then click on the International tab, uncheck
"Use system separators", and provide your own.

In general, Excel uses your Windows regional settings to display the
thousand and decimal separators.

Windows Start menu -> config panel -> Regional settings -> Customize
