Formatting palette has moved off display

Marshall Waddell

Inadvertently, I moved my formatting palette close to the edge of my monitor
display, and now I cannot find it to grab it. From the menu I can toggle it
on and off; each time, it flies from one edge of the display to the other,
without stopping anywhere on the display itself.

This happens with the Macintosh Dock minimization set at scale effect and
also at genie effect. I also tried changing my display's resolution, to make
everything smaller. No luck there, either. The critter is hiding from me.

As much as I dislike the floating palette for how it so often gets in the
way of my work (a kludge I see as a ploy to terrorize me into buying a
bigger monitor), I am habituated to it. Accordingly, I am stumped.
I am running:
Microsoft Word X for Mac Service Release 1;
Mac G4, running OSX 10.3.2 Panther;
My Viewsonic display is a 17 " diagonal CRT.
Thanks for advice.

Hi Marshall,

Try this, courtesy of J.E. McGimpsey:

Type Opt-F11 to enter the Visual Basic Editor. Type CMD-G to open the
Immediate Window, then type or paste the following, ending each with
the Return key:

Commandbars("formatting palette").Left = 100
Commandbars("formatting palette").Top = 100

Hope this helps.
