formatting palette hiding off screen

This is so weird & frustrating, but for some reason when I click on the
formating palette on the tool bar: it opens off in the upper right side
of my monitor off-screen!

I can watch it open adn zoom over there but I cannot access it or get
it back!

I have tried everything I can think of but can't get to it!

any suggestions?

This crops up from time to time, so try searching through this group.

As a first step, try setting the screen to a higher resolution,
repositioning the palette, then switching back.

Try deleting the "Excel Toolbars (11)" preferences file (you'll find it in
the ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft Folder). That should reset your toolbar
settings, including the modifications you may have made, and also including
the mis-positioning of your formatting palette.

I've had Excel windows put their title bars off screen on my second
display so that I can't move them (particularly the help window). I've
found that changing the screen resolution does help though I've found
lowering the screen resolution helps reposition the window so that I
can grab it again. I've found that closing all your other apps before
playing with screen resolutions keeps other windows from positioning
themselves willy nilly all over my desktop.

Good luck.
