Formatting Palette

After years of reliable access, I am suddenly unable to view my
Fomatting Palette in WORD 2004. When I click on it in the View Menu,
it quickly flies from the menu bar to an "unseeable" location below
the bottom of the screen. Similarly, when I click on it, again, in
the View Menu, it quickly flies back up to the menu bar and
disappears. I do not have this problem in PowerPoint! It is in WORD
only. Can you help?
