Is there a way to set up a keyboard shortcut for displaying the
Formatting Palette?
Yes. Go to Tools/Customize/Keyboard... In the left column scroll down to
"All Commands" near the bottom and select it. In the right column scroll
down to "ViewFormattingPalette" near the bottom and select it. Click in
"Press new shortcut key" field then press one or more modifier keys and one
regular letter key. You'll see whether it's already assigned to another
command (avoid those, usually). Including Control key usually gets you an
unassigned shortcut. For example: control-command-F.
