Does anyone know if it is possible to change the colour of the shadow
that can be applied to fonts through the: format/font toolbar?

Thanks
Jill

Unless it depends on the version of PPT you have, no.

But you can use that to remove the shadow from the text, then apply a shadow
using the more general shadow tool, which DOES let you control color, offset
and other things.

Thanks very much for that, I'm in Powerpoint Mac version 2004,
unfortunately the client I'm designing a powerpoint template for would
really like to use that version of shadows, this is because when i
apply a black shadow from the general shadow tool on my mac, when it
gets to her (on her XP pc) it turns to mid grey! if you know any ways
to stop that happening that would also really help me.

Cheers

IIRC, PPT sets the text shadow color based on the background color.

Try changing the background to see if that helps.

If so, you can set the b/g color to something useful then put a colored
rectangle on the masters, if you want the visible background to be different.

That can also affect the color PPT puts behind text when you're editing it, so
check that carefully too if you follow this route.

Hi Jill -

You might want to consider using a simple WordArt object, just in case the
thought hadn't occurred to you.

Hi Jill,

The PC version of PowerPoint does not have the ability to do soft
shadows or even display regular shadows as nicely as the Mac version does.

You can put the nice soft shadows on the mac, then control-click on the
text box and save it as a picture. Insert the picture file and use
pictures of text instead of actual text if the look is more important
than the file size.

Steve

Thanks very much that seems to have sorted out the problem for my
client
