I want to make a booklet that has 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 page sizes. I made a custom page size, and the layout appeared correctly while I entered the material. However, when printing, I specified 4 pages per sheet (8-1/2 x 11) and the project was reduced down very small to fit four pages on one 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 sheet rather than 8-1/2 x 11. What have I done wrong? (I realize I cannot impose these pages; I will paste them up.

Yeah.....Word did exactly what you told it to do--when you set the
custom page size, that also sets the paper size.

I suggest an entirely different approach to booklets. You can set it up
using the standard 8.5x11 page size, and then CocoaBooklet will handle
the resizing and imposition for you--it supports mini-booklets like you
describe, I think.

Alternatively, try Cheap Impostor:

can't seem to sign in, so here goes. Thanks for the advice--I have downloaded cbooklet, haven't tried it yet. This was way easier with WordPerfect! n.

WordPerfect is VERY different from Word. This isn't related to booklets,
but if you are just now switching from WordPerfect to Word, read this page:
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/general/WordVsWordPerfect.htm

In addition, unless you *know* that you need Word's powerful features,
you might find it easier to switch to Apple's Pages or something else,
rather than learn Word.

You'd still need Cocoa Booklet to do booklets in any of those, though.

Or you would set the page up as 8.5x11 and tell them to print it 4 pages
per sheet, but CocoaBooklet is probably easier than the whole cut and
paste to reorder the pages.
