Formatting Symbols

Cindy Czarnowski

When I open any document, blank or saved, all the formatting symbols (i.e.
paragraph symbol, etc.) show up as well. How do I tell Word to stop
showing these symbols ? I checked under "View" - "View Formatting" and
that is not checked, so I don't know what the problem is. Any advice would
be appreciated. Thank you.

Nonprinting characters can be turned off and on by clicking ¶ in the
Standard toolbar. If that doesn't work, check the View settings in the
Preferences menu. See here for more info, and an explanation of how
nonprinting characters can be extremely useful:

(hit refresh a few times in Safari, or use a different browser)
