Formatting tasks based on project

I have a consolidated project file that requires some formatting. It has 7
projects inserted. A request has been made to color code the tasks, including
summary tasks, based on project. When I did that I came upon a limit on the
number cells you can directly format (aproximatley 64000). My view has only 4
columns and about 7000 tasks. Is there a way around this. I am working with
Project professional.

KenDM,
It's been a loooooong time since I ran into this limitation on one of
our files, but I seem to recall something that may help. Individually
formatting each task is indeed considered as formatting one item (that
makes sense). However if several tasks are selected at once, I believe,
(and you can check me on this), the selected group is considered a
single "item". Therefore, if all tasks in each of the 7 subprojects are
selected and formatted you should not run into the limitation. Try it -
you've got nothing to lose, but I'd try it on a new freshly created
master.

Hope this helps.
