formatting the date field

Hi,
I have a table with some date fields with the format
mm/dd/yyyy.
I need to generate a table from a query having the date
fields' format as mm/dd/yy.
How do I get the results in the required format (mm/dd/yy).
It is okay even changing the format in the original table.
I tried to change it in the design of the table, by
changing the field's format set to short date, but that is
not working.

Sheela-

The Format property affects only how the data displays. It doesn't have
anything to do with what's in the field. When you use a Make Table query to
create a new table, Access doesn't copy any of the extra properties (such as
Caption or Format). Why are you creating a new table?
