Hi
Does anyone know why one cannot add a formfield in the
header/footer area of a document?

Hi Tim,

It probably could have been arranged so that you could, but there are a
number of work arounds. If the information that you wanted the user to
enter into a formfield in the header/footer will also appear in the main
body of the document. put the formfield there and in the header/footer, use
a cross reference to the text of the bookmark that is assigned to the
formfield.

If the information does not appear elsewhere in the document, have a macro
run on exit from one of the other formfields to display and inputbox and
create a document variable from the data entered in the input box and have a
DOCVARIABLE field in the header/footer area to display the information.

Etc,

Please post any further questions or followup to the newsgroups for the
benefit of others who may be interested. Unsolicited questions forwarded
directly to me will only be answered on a paid consulting basis.

Hope this helps
