Forms and submit to email.

Hi all.
I've a problem with my form. But let me to explain.

I've a form published on a form library, on sharepoint team site, as a
template. Essentially an error report.
The form is web browser enabled, with two buttons to execute different
actions based on rules.

Each people can compile new form trough form services, based on the
template.
In the form there is a file attachment control (sometimes a screeenshot is
needed);
When fields filled, the people must click on the first button to submit the
compiled form to the sharepoint form library with a specific name.
Here all ok. Form submitted, it can be opened and the attachment is
downloadable after opening the form.

But now there's a problem.
Some office supervisor require to open each form, reading it, evaluate
actions to do and then submit the forms to other people by email.
There's a second button on the form to submit the form by mail.
The button work, mail sent from form services. The mail is correctly a
readonly form... BUT.. I can't see the form attachment!
There's only a placeholder :(

Looking the mail attachments (xml and xsl), i see the form attachment base64
encoded inside xml.
So.. the there's the file.. but i can't view it! :(

There's a way to solve????
I need to put an attachment to my form.. and I absolutely need to send it by
mail with the form.

Thanks to all.

p.s. sorry for my english :p

Hi,

After you submit the InfoPath form as an email message, in Outlook, do you
try to load the attachment from the reading pane or do you open the email
in Outlook and still don't see the attachments?

By default, in reading pane, you will see a place holder in place of the
attachment. To be able to view/download the attachment, you should open the
email by double-clicking it.

Also, can you tell me the version of InfoPath and Outlook on the machine?

By default, in reading pane, you will see a place holder in place of the

the

I've 2 situation.

1) Form opened by Form Services in the browser.
I can fill correctly the form and attaching the file. Then i submit back to
sharepoint form library.
I open the filled form from library, again by form services in the browser.
All data ok, can i download the attachment.
Then I press the submit by mail button. The mail start immediately from
sharepoint, and arrive (from sharepoin notification mailbox).
In the preview pane i see the form correctly rendered, with placeholders
(but reading mail html source I see 3 divs, instead img tag placeholder..
it's right?) instead attachment.
Double clicking mail opening it, the same. All ok, but with placeholders. :(
Double clicking on attached xml, open infopath but i obtain an error.
Illegal char inside xml is reported, inside the attach tag where the file is
encoded. Can't load form.

2) Form opened in infopath instead form services.
I can fill correctly the form and attaching the file. Then i submit back to
sharepoint form library.
I open the filled form from library, again by Infopath. All data ok, can i
download the attachment.
Then I press the submit by mail button. The mail start from my outlook
account after confirmation, and arrive.
In the preview pane i see the form correctly rendered, with placeholders
(but reading mail html source I see 3 divs, instead img tag placeholder..
it's right?) instead attachment.
Double clicking mail opening it, the same. All ok, but with placeholders. :(
Double clicking on attached xml, the form open itself into infopath and I
can open the attached file.

So.. where is the error :( ?

Or.. any suggestion?

I'm not the administrator.. And i can't coding pages or serve side code :-/
Also, can you tell me the version of InfoPath and Outlook on the machine?

Sure. My team site is on Sharepoint 2007 (the intranet site is based on SP
2003 but i think not important. Separate servers)
On my machine installed Office 2007.

Many thanks for reply.
I hope my english can explain all correctly :p

Sorry for the delayed response...

Looks like this one needs further troubleshooting....why don't you create a
support case with Microsoft? We can loop in SharePoint, Outlook and
InfoPath team together to resolve the issue as and when required.

I'm not the administrator, i'm only a "coordinator" user with some special
rights, working on the TeamSite created by a section of another office of
the company (MPS Banking Group) that manage all the architectures.
So I must talk about this with the other office.. and hope they want to open
a support case with MS. They have direct contacts with microsoft Italy, to
solve problems.

So.. i think there's nothing that i can do to solve. Only wait the formal
procedures of the office :( .. or can I open myself a support case without
nothing directly in my hands (serials, licenses and so on)?

thanks for your support.

Simone.
