forms - editing within a form field

Jayne

I have created a basic form using the "forms" toolbar. My problem is when I
try to edit within the form field paragraph ("abc" on toolbar) the whole
paragraph is highlighted, (or recognised as one) making it hard to click your
curser on one word within this paragraph to edit.

Is there another way to avoid this and still add (easy to edit) text within
the form?

I hope this problem makes sense. Any suggestions welcomed......

Which version of Word is this?

I'm having trouble recognizing what you mean with "abc on the toolbar". For me,
that's the spell check button, or the button in the Mail Merge interface to show
the data preview.

Could you describe in a bit more detail where/how this form field is inserted
into the document? Do you have forms protection activated when you try editing?

I am working in word 2003, using the forms toolbar. "abc" is the first
button on the toolbar which inserts a text form field. This allows you to
type within the text form field - my problem is editing this text, double
clicking highlights all the text within the form field... it seems the only
way to edit is with the arrow keys....

Thank you for your help.....

Why would you double-click to start editing? A single click should put the IP
at that position. Click-and-drag should select text. I can also double click
on anything not at the start or end of the field with no problems.

Unless you've inserted the form field in a table. In that case, you can't make
selections - it's a limitation of form fields. (And that's why I asked you for
more information on how you're using form fields.)

BTW: that button on the toolbar does NOT contain the letter "c"...

Thanks Cindy... yes you are right the button does not have a "c" on it... and
I am single clicking into the paragraph and the whole paragraph highlights!
I cannot just highlight one word and delete it within the "text form field".

Within the "text form field" I have inserted bulletted comments - would this
affect it?

Thank you for your time.... Jayne (in Australia)

How did you get the "bulleted comments" into the formfield?
