Forms Screens

I am using Access 2000.

I don't understand how the background grid works when I am
designing a form. I designed a form with the right border
(edge of grid) at 9", and put a field right up next to the
border. But when I switch to the Form View, the back
ground extends beyond the screen and my field does not
appear to be at the edge of the screen. I noticed this
because I have been trying to center my forms, on the
screen,in Form View. I am just trying to understand how
the background grid works and/or what Access is doing with
the grid. Does anyone understand this???

I also have a 2nd question. How do you change the
backgroud color of "Tab" screens from dark grey to another
color?

Thank you for any help you can give me. I love working
with Access and just want to try to understand it a little
better.

A1: Edge of form
After switching to Form view, the window is the size that it was previously,
not necessarily the correct width/height for the form.
In form view, chose Size To Fit from the Window menu.
Then switch back to design view, and save the form.

A2: Background color of tab control.
Tab controls don't have a BackColor property.
The best you can do is to set the transparent, so the section's color shows
through.

If you want something more than that, Stephen Lebans has a download at:

Thank you for your prompt reply but I did not understand
your 2nd answer. What do I set to Transparent? Do I do
this from the form properties or the tab properties?
I went to the area you suggested but I didn't get any
information. Maybe I didn't know how to bring it up. I
got to the site. There was a 1 line statement about tab
color but when I clicked on it nothing happend.

Thank you again for your prompt reply.

1. Right-click the tab control, and choose Properties.

2. Verify that that the Title of the Properties box says "Tab Control", so
you are looking at that rather than the properties of a page, section, or
control.

3. On the Format tab of the Properties box, set:
Backstyle
to
Transparent

Just checked, and this does not work properly in the Beta version of Access
2003. Not sure about the final release. It does work in previous versions,
and it works if you import a form made in a previous version into A2003
beta.

Stephen Lebans site has been there for a long time. Try again later. Or do
you have your IE settings blocking downloads?
