Forms Users in PS2007

So is really the only way to set a password for a Forms Authentication user
is to use the PjFormsAuthUpgrade.exe command as outlined below:

http://technet2.microsoft.com/Office/f/?en-us/library/559cc03c-56f7-4399-ad28-15ac35e8723d1033.mspx

In PS2003, we could set a password for a Project Server type login.
In PS2007, the only way is to do this from a command prompt and a source xml
file? Seems odd that this can't be controlled via a web ui.

So i can create a new user in PWA 2007 and select for them to user the Forms
Authentication method (what i'm assuming takes the place of the Project
Server account in 2003), but i can't set the password there in PWA 2007 and
they can't log into PWA 2007 either because the password is not set...???

any insight into how to do would be beneficial...

Hi TroyS
You can use various authenitcation methods for forms auth (LDAP etc), but
assuming you are using the SQL ASP provider, then this is your only option.

The WSS guys have produced a UI for this, but not for the project bit.
Also, it breaks when creating a forms auth user which has a mandatory
Enterprise field associated with it...

So short term, it'll make the EPM implementation job harder, however MSEPM
can now happily sit within a non Windows Authenticated environment.

thanks for your insight....
It just seems that the Project Server account authentication (non Windows)
in PS2003 was much easier....

It was, epsecially when you think how easy it was to create accounts for
testing purposes. Now, each PS2007 depployment I do will probably need forms
auth installing (so I can set up users for testing/traing purposes), which
requires more time and provides little direct benefit to the end customer...
