Forms Vs. Basic Authentication

What I am wondering is Forms Authentication on my OWA more
or less secure than Basic Authentication. I am needing to
explain this to the CIO, so that we can turn Forms
Authentication off and use Basic Authentication for OWA
access with a remote product. The Remote product will
only use Basic Authentication for OWA access.

Thanks in advance to anyone that can explain this to me!

This is for Microsoft Access, the database product.
