Formula’s are being erased

I recently purchased a MacBook Pro and I'm using the Entourage software program. When I receive an excel email file from a PC all of the formula's are erased and the numbers are set at values. The person sending me the excel spreadsheet is using Excel 03. What can I do to prevent the formula's from being erased?

I'm sure you mean Excel 2003, not Excel 3. Anyway this has nothing to do
with Entourage or Excel. The PC user is saving the Excel file as a text file
and sending that. Have them send the Excel file they are using, No
conversion is necessary.
