Formula bar confirm button missing

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: intel

Excel 2008; OSX 10.4.11

The formula bar only has a cancel button; no accept button (which I use all the time). I tried deleting the Office 2008 plist and Excel Toolbars files but it didn't change anything.

I can't find any preference that would either remove or reinstate the confirm button.

Any suggestions??

Thanks,
Andrew

I found this annoying too, but I didn't find out how to fix it! Also the cancel button isn't on the left like it used to be but all the way at the end on the right. You can use "Esc" to cancel or the "Enter" on the keypad to accept but I still liked the buttons. Microsoft people, why did this get changed?

I don't like it either and have no idea why it got changed. I suppose
Microsoft decided it was easier this way. If you'd like it changed, use the
Send Feedback choice in the help menu.
