FORMULA BAR DEFAULT VIEW

MICL/MUK

I have been using EXCEL on MAC for a long time - one of the key ways I
became so fond of and attached to was finding and looking at the FORMULA BAR
as soon as a new worksheet opens. The formula bar is always at the same
place on any new or existing worksheet.
NOT SO in OFFICE2008/EXCEL.....
Am I wrong or am I right? IS there anyway I can set up a script so the
formula bar is visible straight off when I start a worksheet (new or
existing) without me having to go to the "VIEW" menu and ticking the FORMULA
BAR, and the seeing it at a random location on the worksheet or
somewhere/anywhere else on the desktop......

Perhaps I am not doing things correctly.
Please help - thank you

The formula bar is on by default, if you go to the Excel/Preferences/View is
'Show formula bar' checked on in that preference pane?

Thanks!

Is your installation of Office 2008 fully updated (12.1.1)?

I recall seeing some issues about the FB's behavior that were resolved in
SP1(12.1.0) but can't recall if that was one of them I believe it was.
