Formula bar gone

MAC Powerbook G4, OS 10.5.6, Office 2004, Excel 2004, Version 11.5.3

I accidentally dragged the formula bar up into the standard toolbar and it
(the formula bar) disappeared. I can't get it back. I've tried

MENU: VIEW: FOMULA BAR: CHECK , then UNCHECK then CHECK.
Same in MENU: EXCEL PREFERENCES.

Quit Excel and restart, Do the above again several times. Restarted Excel
several times and did again above again several times.

Rebooted computer and did all again several times.

Nothing I can find brings it back. Help.

It's quite likely that the Standard bar is just covering the Formula Bar -
what happens if you drag the Standard bar into the middle of the window or
turn it of altogether? Can you then see enough of the Formula Bar to drag it
back into action?

If not, it's possible that you may have hidden it behind the main Menu Bar.
Go into System Preferences - Display & lower the resolution. Try different
settings as necessary, switching back to the Excel until you're able to get
a grip on the errant thing. Then put everything back together.

I tried all that you recommended. None worked. I then copied Excel from my
backup on a different hard drive and replaced the original on my mac. Still
didn't work.

I deleted Excel from my hard drive and got out the installation disks and
reinstalled Excel.

When I did he reinstall, my serial was already in the software. When I
opened Excel, it crashed. So I did all of the updates to 11.5.3 and it
opens, but still no Formula bar and my toolbar is as I had customized it.

So, How do I do a clean install of Excel without losing my other Office
stuff like all of my email history, eamil addresses, etc.

First & Foremost: All the gyrations you've gone through ‹ copying the
program from a "backup, reinstalling, etc. ‹ will do nothing to remedy most
problems. In fact, those approaches will usually cause more difficulties.

The resolution changes will work sooner or later, but you may need to move
other toolbars & the workbook window out of the way. The Formula Bar will
most likely be covered up by one or the other. I'd suggest you continue to
try that method.

If that still refuses to get it back Quit Excel, go to your backup & copy
the file named Excel Toolbars (11) from User/Library/Preferences/Microsoft
to that same respective location in your current installation.

As a last resort Quit Excel, go to & remove the file named Excel Toolbars
(11) as located above, then launch Excel. That will definitely restore the
FB but you'll also lose any custom bars & customizations of built-in bars.

Thanks bob,
The Excel Toolbars (11) thing from my backup fixed it.
