Formula bar in excel

Stupid, stupid me.

Had my MacBook Pro on an external monitor with a very wide formula
bar.

Now back on the laptop screen (and can't get to a monitor) and the
formula bar is too wide; even if I drag it (floating) all the way to
the right, the resize markers in the bottom right hand corner don't
come into view.

Not the end of the world, but still driving me crazy.

Any thoughts would be appreciated,

Lawrence.

What happens if you click the green sweetie with the + in the top left?

Just another thought as a possible "quick-fix":

Go to Excel>Preferences - View, clear the Formula Bar checkbox, restart
Excel & turn the Formula Bar back on.

By the green sweetie, I assume you mean the maximise button for the
worksheet? If so I tried it - the sheet expands but the formula bar
stays the same.

Also tried unchecking the formula bar (both by unticking it under the
preferences pane and through the 'view' drop-down list) and then
restarting Excel; thing has the memory of an elephant!

Unfortunately as far away from my copy of Office for Mac as I am a
widescreen monitor, else I'd just re-install it.

Thanks for the suggestions though - tried to see if there was a
complete 'reset excel' option under preferences; can't see one.

Oh well,

L

Try setting your resolution as high as it will go, then set it back -
sometimes jockeying the resolution around will knock things back into shape
or at least let you get hold of its evasive parts.

You might also try the troubleshooting tips you'll find here:

Especially those that pertain to "Check Your Settings" - although you'll
have to adjust a bit for 2004 as it refers primarily to Excel X.

Genius - thanks very much.

Went to hd/user/myself/library/prefs/microsoft and just trashed
anything I could find relating to Excel.

Restarted and all is fine.

Hooray!
