Formula Bar/Palette Problems ???

Hi:
Why is it that when I edit a formula (within the formula bar) several
times trying to get it to work, (the formula palette appears and gives the
answer I expect), but will not "take" (no answer in the cell, just the
formula) when I press enter?

During such occurrences, I have found that once I copy the formula to
memory (from the formula bar with Ctrl-C) and clear the cell via
EDIT\CLEAR\ALL, then copy the formula back from memory to the formula bar it
works OK after pressing enter. The only thing I can conclude is that the
cell somehow gets "tainted" with something that I am putting there. Or is
this behavior normally experienced by others?

You probably have the cell formatted as Text. Reformat it as General
or another number format prior to entering the formula.
