formula doesn't display result

Formulas I enter are being displayed as formula only,
cannot get it to display result. I've tried formatting as
number, used f2 still no result. Also have no merged cells
within the formula groups. Help!

Make sure that in Tools>Options>View that the 'Formulas'
option is unchecked.

The cells were probably formatted as text before you entered the formulas.
Re-formatting doesn't help.
First format the cell as General, then enter the formula.

make sure you formula starts out with an equal sign.
