Formula errors

We have several invoices that are showing errors (little green triangle in top right corner of cell) for cells that have no numerical entered. Why is that? If I enter zero in A1 and B1 and D1 then my formula for E1=(A1*B1*D1) works. But, if no number is in there I get the error.

What am I doing wrong?

If you select one of those cells that has the green flag you'll see an Error
Alert button appear adjacent to the cell. If you click that button the menu
that pops open will tell you what the error is - In this case you have a
formula that refers to one or more cells which do not contain values.
Technically that's a no-no in a worksheet:) But you can dismiss the error
if you wish from the choices in the button's menu.

If you go to Excel> Preferences - Error Checking you can choose what type of
errors get flagged in that manor.

strictly speaking, they are 'warnings', not 'errors'

they show up for things like 'refers t empty cell', 'formula differs
from formulas in surrounding cells' etc.

you can vary what warnings get shown in the preferences.

Thanks for the replies.

Next issue is: headers and footers aren't opening/showing or printing in Microsoft Office X for Mac.

I set up about 10 forms (on Excel 2004) for my supervisor (Microsoft Office X). If you open them from the server the headers and footers are not viewable and don't print on his machine. So, I burned copies onto a CD of all the files and copied them to his desktop - same problem. All 10 print correctly from my machine. What can I do?

Thanks again.

One way is to get your supervisor t upgrade to Excel 2004. Make sure your
supervisor has the latest printer drivers.
