Formula help, please.

Hello,
I need to create a formula that populates a custom field called "Task
Summary". What this formula needs to do is populate the "Task Summary" field
with the name of the Summary task for the corresponding Sub task. I do not
know how to go about setting up this formula. Any help is appreciated.

This will function similarly to how the Project field works when in a Master
project.

I am using MOPS 2007, MS Project 2007.

Thanks,
Jennifer

Hello Jennifer L,

You won't be able to accomplish what you seek through a formula
however, you can accomplish what you need through a VBA macro. Jack
Dahlgren has a macro that populates a spare Task Text field with the
name of parent task. You can find Jack's macro page at:
http://masamiki.com/project/macros.htm

See his "Summary Task" macro. If you have follow-up questions about
the macro or modifying the macro, please post to the Developer
newsgroup.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie, Thank you so much! I had a feeling it would need to be done in a
macro. Thanks for confirming it. Glad to see there's already one out there.
I'll check out Jack's macro and hopefully implement it into my field.

Thanks again!

Superb Jennifer. So glad Jack's macro suited your needs with just a
minor tweak.
