Formula in excel

I have a rather large personnel spreadsheet which I am collating every
employee's details into, a similar but less extensive and recent spreadsheet
had a formula to calculate people's age, using the day's date and their
inputted dob.
Now am not so stupid that didn't think to copy it into my new spreadsheet,
which I have done and it works.
However when I try to copy throughout the specific column that I require it
for, I am told that there has been an error VALUE! appears in each cell. When
I click into the individual cells the formula has changed from the cell in
which the current day's date is held to another: the day's date is in column
B1 and the incorrect formula will remain in B column but will move to the
line that the cell I wish the formula to be placed in is held. Does this make
sense?
I don't really want to have to manually into this formula into each
corresponding cell as it will take me to Christmas, next year!
Cheers

Your formula that works will be referring to cell B1. Change all
references to B1 to $B$1 instead, and then copy the formula down the
column.

Hope this helps.
