formula problem

Hi List,
I have a column that has a number in (it is the age) and I want to add the
letter "y". Have tried a column of y's then concatenate, but then when I
delete the surplus column, the y disappears. Any solutions?
Thanks
Althea

Hi AB!

So near!

Insert that column of ys again and use the concatenation. Then select
the concatenation column and
Copy
Edit > Paste Special > Values
OK

One other solution, if you want to keep your result as a number (perhaps to use
it in other formulas), would be to custom format the cell:

Format/Cells/Number/Custom/Type: 0\y or 0 \y
