Formula - Resource and Task

I am using Proejct Professional 2007. I have a custom field in the Resource
Sheet (a cost field called "Res Cost A"). (This is different than standard
rate and all other standard fields.) What I want to do is go to the Tasks
and put in a custom field there that takes "Res Cost A" and multiplies it by
the amount of work assigned. However, I can't seem to find my custom field
when I am in the Tasks view. And, I try to use the field list and can't find
it there either. How can I see this value in the tasks view?

Cost Rate A for a Resource is the same as the Standard Rate.
Rates for a Resource can only be assigned to an Assignment.
Change Rate in the Task or Resource Usage View and insert the Cost Rate
Table Column.
The Cost Rate Table column cannot be Viewed in the Gantt chart as it is an
assignment field.

If your Res Cost A field isn't one of the Cost values (double-click a
Resource and select Costs tab) then you still can't see it in the Gantt
Chart. The only Resource fields visible in the Gantt Chart are: Resource
Name, Initials and Group.

To get a different rate for a resource, double-click it, select the Costs
tab then enter the new rate as Rate B. If it's a new rate from Jan 09 say,
then simply edit the Rate A cost to be the new value from 1/1/09.

Hi Rod,

Thanks for the reply. I don't believe we could use this solution as we use
the Std Rate for the default billing rate, Tab A (this is our default tab
which inherits the Std Rate value), Tab B thru E are also predefined values.
We are using the Std Rate for billing as our billing rates vary by resource
by task within a project whereas our cost is fixed throughout all but the
cost does vary only by resource (i.e.-> main types are Co-op, Asia and US).
So, is there any way for me to see the cost of each task based on the
Resource's cost (which is not in Std Rate)?
