Formula shows not results

LOL

I have type a simple formula into a cell.

=SUM(A1:A13)

The formula appears after I press the enter button Check mark.... I press
the Fx and the results add up correctly.... yet the results do not appear
only the formula.

What have I done? Can I get the formula in the background and the results to
appear?

Format the cell with the formula as general or number (not text), then
reenter the formula (or just press F2 and enter)

It sound like the cell is formatted as Text. Try:
Edit > Replace > Find What: enter =
Replace With: =

The cell will still be formatted as Text so chage the formatting to what you
want.

Does this occur with all formulas?

Perhaps you are in Formula View. Hit CTRL + `(backquote above Tab key)

OR

The cell was pre-formatted as Text.

Format to General then hit F2 then ENTER to re-enter the formula.
