Formula to add

M

Margaret Upton

I want to be able to add a column of figures, but in several cells they will
be blanc. I have found that the autosum only works if there are numbers in
each cell. In this particular document I have subtotals in the right hand
column that I want to total at the end with probably 4 or 5 blanc cells in
between each sub total. To put a formula saying D1+D8+D20 etc and having to
count down to know the cells to put in the formula, you may as well use a
calculator. Is there any formula you can put that would add all above
without having to put a zero in the blanc cells. Could anyone help please.

You could try giving your sub-totals bookmark names (Insert > Bookmark).
Then use those names in the formula:
=(Sub1 + Sub2 = Sub3) etc.
or
=SUM(Sub1, Sub2, Sub3)
