formula to work out how many hours over allocated

Hello - I want to create a formula in a custom field that shows me how many
hours over-allocated iin the task useage view a task is (if it is
over-allocated that is) - can anyone help? thanks (2007)

Do you mean like count the number of resources assigned to the task, divide
the work and duration by that and figure out if you have an average higher
than 8 hours per day? There's a field called Overallocated which flags any
task with overallocated resources.

....or do you mean timephased overallocations? That's built in too....just
right click on the Task Usage Chart (on the right side of the page) and add
the Overallocation field. That will flag which resources are overallocated.
