i have over 1000 duplicate numbers on one worksheet what type of formula do i
need to run in order to bring back how many ie 2001,2002,2003, 2010 etc.

Chip Pearson has several duplicates functions(tagging, counting etc.) on his
site. Perhaps one of them will return what you want.

Tools > Data Analysis > Histogram...........

Or,

Data > Filter > AutoFilter will let you look at them.......
