Formulas in Charts

I am currently creating a chart in Excel. In the Values Axis I a
trying to add noncontigious colums (i.e. b,c,d, g) when I try do d
this I get an error message. Please help how should this formula b
entered, what am I doing wrong

How exactly are you trying to add non-contiguous columns? What error
message do you get? What kind of a chart are you creating? What do
the columns contain? All numeric values or does one or more cell
contain text?
