Formulas in inserted rows

I have a spreadsheet with some columns containing formulas. When I add a
new row in the middle, I want the formula columns to be replicated in
the new row.

This doesn't seem to happen by default, but I have noticed sometimes
that the formula does appear in the new row.

I would be grateful for ideas how to ensure the formulas appear.
