forward slash troubles

Whenever I press forward slash on my computer another symbol appears (and e
with an accent above) as well when I press shift 7 a ? appears? Can anyone
tell me how to fix this

Sounds like one of the language settings is wrong. First check in Control
Panel that the Keyboard and Regional languages are set correctly.

Then in Word, check that it too is set for the correct language. (Tools,
Languages.)
