Forwarding Fax messages to e-mail account using Rule Problem

L

Lewis McCoy

I am wanting to forward all faxes received to an e-mail address. I created a rule to forward the messages and all worked well except the rule uses the mail account that received the message as the outgoing account. As a result you just get winfax trying to fax the received fax back out. Can you set a default for all forwarding messages to utilize one account regarless of which account the message was originally received?

Help?

I couldn't tell from your response if the article wouuld
tell me how I can accomplish what I'm trying to do or if
it was simply going to tell me that It wont work. The
article that you directed me to shows up as not being
available. Can you help me some more. I don't know if
the full version of WinFax will help me or what. I would
appreicate any help you can give.

Yeah, they pulled that article. It merely explained that you can't use
forward with faxes. You have to Open the fax then print it to your fax
printer and generate a new fax.

Yes you're right. I am not wanting to forward it as a
fax. I just want to forward the file. I can do it and
it works fine. I just can't make it do it
automatically. I can forward the message and then change
the send account from the WinFax account to my e-mail
account and it will forward the message just fine. The
problem is that if you try to do it automatically it
defaults to the fax sender and trys to fax something out
and I would assume that it would just be the message and
not the attached fax.

Can you generate a Rule to forward a message but,
designate what e-mail account sends the forwarded message
regardless of what account received the original
message. If you could do this then I could accomplish
what I need.

thanks for your continued help.

I know of no way to do so, but I've never used WinFax. It's a third party
product from whom you should seek support. As far as Outlook is concerned,
there is no way to forward a fax message with rules.
