"Forwarding signed email with attachment"crash

If someone sends an email to me with an attachment and I
try to digitally sign and forward the email, Outlook crashes.

I am using ActivCard Gold for CAC 2.2, ActivCard USB Reader
v2 and DoD CAC card. We have Outlook 2002 SP-2 on a Windows
2000 system.

Why does this happen?
