forwarding w/o attachments

When my friends send me emails that have been forwarded to them it comes as
an attachment, in an attachment, in an attachment.....so on and so on until I
get to the message in the core which is what they wanted me to see. Then when
I forward it it adds to the attachment in an attachment phenomenon. How do I
stop the madness? Is it on my end or on theirs?

For the incoming mail, the madness is on their end and AOL is a big
contributor. When you forward the message, whether or not the original
message is included as an attachment or in the body of the message is
controlled by the settings of the "On replies and forwards" section of the
dialogue reached by clicking Tools>Options>E-mail Options
