Foward Arrow/AutoPreview/Attachments

I am trying to answer a senior coworker's questions about Microsoft Outlook
2003 so if anybody has answers to these questions, I would appreciate a
quick response. I've already tried finding the questions asked by other
users but I did not find what I was looking for.

1. When he forwards or replies to a message, the arrow that shows on top of
the envelope icon is not showing up. I'm told the field is there though.

2. In his personal folders the auto-preview works just fine. However, when
he tries to open his regular Inbox, only the messages that are unread show
it. After they've been read and he selects it again, it only shows the
single line with the usual information.

3. Some of his attachments somehow ended up in the body of the email and
then they can't be opened but rather show <attachment-name>.

These three things don't make sense so if somebody else has encountered
these problems and has some knowledge, it would be greatly appreciated.

1) Close Outlook. Locate and rename outcmd.dat, extend.dat, the SRS file,
and frmcache.dat. Open Outlook again.

2) This is an Exchange account?

3) Likely rich text format which is Outlook's default format. Only Outlook
can read this format, users with other email clients may experience the
issues you describe. Have him switch to plain text or HTML.

Could you elaborate on #1 a little more, like what you are saying to do and
why you think that will work.

The outcmd.dat is the toolbar settings file. If you rename it while Outlook
is closed, it will create a new one when Outlook is open. If that file is
corrupted then you want to generate a new file.

Well, I'll try it. On #2, yes it is an exchange account.

We figured out #2 and #3.

2. Right Click on the views bar and go to Customize Current View > Other
Settings > AutoPreview > Preview all items

3. Tools > Options > Email Options > Advanced Email Options > Add properties
to attachments to enable Reply with Changes
