FP 2000 Publish Error

P

Pat McGhie

This problem just started using FP 2000... I have 2 seperate webs up...
one publishes fine..

The 2nd, gets an error as follows:

ServerError: FrontPage requires that the AllowOveride option be set to
something other than "None." (typically set in access.conf) "ALL" is the
preferred AllowOveride option in the document root.

This site has been up for 3 years and this just started. I published
successfully on about may 20th. I can find no documentation on this error,
cannot find the afore mentioned file access.conf, in essence I am at a total
loss.

Can someone please help..

Thank you,

Pat McGhie (e-mail address removed)

This sounds like a misconfiguration of your webserver, presumably Apache
running on Unix.
The error is mentioned among the FAQs at www.rtr.com who provide the Unix
server extensions.

Ron, checked that page out .. thank you.. it also refers to a file called
access.conf and another srm.conf

I just searched my server directory and neither of these files exist!

Still lost... sorry..

I know very little about Unix, so you may need to post in a Unix group,
maybe
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.frontpage.extensions.unix ?

access.conf and srm.conf may not be in use on your server, if not then all
the configuration will be in httpd.conf

IIRC there is at least one reference to AllowOveride for the main server,
then further references in each virtual server section. (I have given up
trying to install extensions until knowledge improves, too many problems
coming up - the last being "Invalid Virtual Server"

Contact your host - they have control of those files
