FP 2002 and proxies

Cliff

I am using Direcway from my weekend home to access a WEB page live on the
web and edit it. I get an error message that looks like

The server couldn't log you on, because you are connecting through a proxy
server, but the server's authentication scheme(s) do not work across a
proxy. Try adding the server to the Exceptions box in the Proxy Settings
dialog, or request the server administrator to enable another authentication
scheme.

Any ideas cos I'm lost...

Thanks

Cliff

Try adding the server to the Exceptions box in the
Proxy Settings dialog,

1. Choose Internet Settings from the Tools menu in IE,
or from Control Panel.
2. Click the Connections tab, then click LAN Settings.
3. I presume Use A Proxy Server For Your LAN is
selected. If not, select it and enter the name and
port of your proxy server in the boxes provided.
(I presume Direcway has given you or will give you
this info.)
4. Click advanced and then, under Exceptions, enter
your site's domain name.
5. Click OK, OK, and OK.
or request the server administrator to enable another
authentication scheme.

This means you would need to get Direcway to change the
configuration on their proxy server.

Direcway *is* running the proxy server, right? Not you?

But I'm getting this error when I try to open the WEB with Front Page 2002.
It's not an IE error. Will the changes made in IE correct my problem in FP?

C

Cliff

OK, made those changes and now it returns a message:

There is a problem with the web server. Please try again later or contact
the server administrator.

When I click to get past that and try to open it again, I get:

The server sent a response that Front Page could not parse. Check with the
admin to ensure FP extensions are installed correctly.

Since it doesn't work still, I re-read your question and see you asked me a
question that I didn't answer. I'm using the DW6000 which is a router and
proxy all in one. I see that inder IE6 my proxy is 192.168.0.1 and direcway
has already added their site to the exception list. Even after I added my
domain, it doesn't work. FP returns the messages I posted above.

Previous posts ("Direcway DW6000 Satellite Connection to FP server" on
15/12/2003, and "The server sent a response which FrontPage could not
parse" 22/12/2003) indicate a problem with the Direcway 6000 equipment,
which Direcway has to resolve.

Got it...and subtle too...thanks. I did a search and found the posts you
referenced.

Sorry, I was off-line for a little while here.

It sounds as if the router needs to be configured to allow the kind
of communication that logging into a FrontPage Web requires. If you're
administering the DW6000 yourself, you probably need to look around the
manufacturer's Web site or contact their support department for assistance.
