FP 2002 - link bar/buttons won't show after publishing

My navigation buttons on the link bars won't show after I've published my
website. This is the first time it's been published to the server. The
navigation stucture is in place and the button hierarchy thing is set right,
and all works well with the ctlr/click action in normal view on the local
machine. But for some reason the buttons don't work in preview mode. And now
no buttons show in the browser at all after being published to the remote
server? Is something corrupted?

Does the server have the FP2002 extensions and you published via FP's http mode?

Sorry for the mistake sending. i haven't been in a newgroup for a year or
more.
Yes, the 2002 exstensions were installed by the server company. And yes, i
used the http function via "publish web" on the file menu.

i opened the website "live" on the server through 2002 and found that the
navigation structure as seen on the navigation page is not there. only one
page is there with nothing else. so im thinking that the nav structure that
the buttons rely on didn't get sent over. But where is that kept? and can it
be sent over as a simple file? and why didn't the web go over as its layed
out in FP2002 locally?

i went to MS KB and found the article on troubleshooting publishing
problems. everything checked until i got to test 4, step two and i got an
error message. so im thinking that i have corrupted extension files on the
..NET server. I'm going to ask to have them reinstalled and see what happens.

i also tried publishing my web locally on a remote hard drive and everything
worked fine, so i (think) i know that FP is ok.

(im hosted on a .net diy portal)

Bit please let me know if yo think of something else.

Test 4: Check FrontPage Server Extensions
Step 1
a. In the browser address bar, type http://host_name/_vti_inf.html.
b. On the View menu, click Source to check FrontPage Server
Extensions and type. . If Author.dll/Admin.dll is listed, this indicates an
Internet Server Application Programming Interface (ISAPI) NT-Based Server.
There may be a problem with NT LANMan (NTLM) authentication.For additional
information about NTLM authentication, click the article number below to
view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

. If Author.exe/Admin.exe is listed, this indicates a Unix-based
server.


Step 2
In the browser address bar, type
http://Host_Name/_vti_bin/shtml.exe/Page_Name, and then press ENTER.

(On ISAPI servers, type http://Host_Name/_vti_bin/shtml.dll/Page_Name, and
then press ENTER.)

When you do this, you pass Page_Name through the FrontPage Server Extensions
and display the page. If you receive an error message when you do this,
there may be a problem with the FrontPage Server Extensions.
