FP 2003 AND IIS 5

Hi

I can't get a local site to work with FP 2003 and IIS 5 under XP Pro.
Frontpage keeps telling me that the sharepoint services are not installed on
the server whatever i do, and i don't see any option to create a site
without them. I downloaded sharepoint services but they need windows server
2003.

When in the IIS manager i clik on the site and chose Open with FrontPage, it
says that i need to install the frontpage client.
I uninstalled both and reinstalled them in a different order and already
spent hours on the internet looking for answers but is nothing so far.

Btw the default installation of IIS 5 does not support asp, whereas the
helpfiles are in asp!!! Maybe i am very stupid or else there is something
very wrong with this software. But it turned out that the helpfiles don't
give any answers really too.

That's a wonderful way of treating your customers who spend hundreds of
dollars on software, just to be able to devellop websites locally!

Anyway, any help would be very much appreciated.

Bert

yes at least when i do a check on the server extension in iis manger it says
"no problem".
Just now i also installed fp 2002 server extension (i don't believe there
are 2003 server extension??).
When i do a check on the last one it goes to a local url and i get a 500
errror.

i still can't get to my computer name/localhost/127.0.01./or lan ip address
in frontpage..
and trying to make a new web on the webserver still tells me that sharepoint
stuff is missing..
(after i installed fp server extensions 2002 i got a sharepoint folder in my
webroot, but still nothing possible through fp 2003)

I'm having the excat same problem and can't imagine why it is happening.
I've managed a 2k server with FP before and never ran across this problem.
Any ideas or answers?

Thanks.

I always open the site directly from within FP, never from the link in IIS MMC.
