FP 2003 and Jalbum

Ok, I've been trying to come up with an acceptable slide show for my
web site.

I upgraded to 2003 to see if it's slide show would do, but it doesn't
have much to offer that I couldn't do with FP 2000.

Some kind soul on here has recommended using Jalbum a couple of times
so I downloaded it. It seems to have all the capabilities I need, but
I've got one glitch.

What I like in my presentation are 6 to 10 columns of thumbnails X 6
to 10 rows. Click on a thumbnail to enlarge that one photo (no
thumbnails showing when the one full size photo is showing) and have
forward and backward navigation buttons. I've managed to tweak Jalbum
to get what I want out of my FP site, with one glitch.

When I preview my thumbnail page, all the thumbnails show. If I do a
live update and preview the thumbnail page, all the thumbnails show.
But, when I go to the site through IE, the thumbnails don't show up,
only the names of the photos. If I click on one of the photo names,
the site goes on to properly run the slide show.

Anybody have any idea why the thumbnails don't show up when actually
using the site? I actually had the thing work correctly one time, but
haven't been able to get it working properly again.

Thanks for any help.

Depends on which skin you're using for JAlbum.

I've tried a number of different skins including one customized to our
site.
Once you generate the JAlbum on your local machine you need to import it into your open web, then Publish it to the online server. Then it should work fine (I've used it)

Yeah, that's pretty much what I've done. I've also tried publishing
it directly to my site and then linking during a live update.
Another caveat...I believe JAlbum uses Java.

This may be the problem. I just installed a new hd on my home machine
to install XP pro. I checked the site before I installed Norton and
the index page with thumbnails shows up just fine. I'm guessing with
scripting blocked by Norton the thumbnail page doesn't work. Is this
what you were referring to when you mentioned Jalbum uses Java?

If that is the problem I need to come up with a workaround.
JAlbum is really cool since you can tweek all the skins.

Yes it is. I was able to easily make the canges in a skin to look
like it was designed just for my site. So close, yet so far.

Oh, and you requested a link:

This is just a generic Blueplusplus series I put up as a test, but
it's there.

Thanks for your input.

Windows XP no longer comes with the Java Virtual Machine, so users who also do not have the JVM will
not be able to see any Java Applets.
